Our Mission Statement
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end
discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality
for all. HRC seeks to improve the lives of LGBT Americans by advocating for equal rights and benefits in
the workplace, ensuring families are treated equally under the law and increasing public support among all
Americans through innovative advocacy, education and outreach programs. HRC works to secure equal rights
for LGBT individuals and families at the federal and state levels by lobbying elected officials,
mobilizing grassroots supporters, educating Americans, investing strategically to elect fair-minded
officials and partnering with other LGBT organizations.
What We Do
As the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender Americans, the Human Rights Campaign represents a grassroots force of over 750,000 members and

Founded in 1980, the Human Rights Campaign advocates on behalf of LGBT Americans, mobilizes grassroots
actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuals to office and
educates the public about LGBT issues.

public education and programming.
HRC in Seattle
Throughout the year, HRC in Seattle sponsors and organizes events to help raise awareness about LGBT
issues, attract new members and volunteers, and raise funds for HRC’s national advocacy and education
programs. For example, HRC Seattle convenes Town Hall meetings throughout the year on important issues
of interest to the LGBT community; hosts an annual bowling event fundraiser; and partners with
organizations advocating for LGBT rights at the local and state levels. In Seattle, HRC’s premier
fundraising event is its annual Dinner, an elegant gala that celebrates its twelth annual anniversary this
year. These events provide an excellent opportunity to volunteer and show your support for the LGBT
community, diversity and equality.
